Senior Sprinkler Designer The Senior Sprinkler Designer plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing fire protection solutions for diverse building projects. This role requires independent leadership of the design process to deliver optimal fire safety systems with minimal oversight. This individual will design and create the finished representation for the sprinkler systems using drawing and drafting skills and tools. The designer will have responsibility for the initial planning of a project including scheduling of time, creating material stock listing, analyzing changes, and solving problems. Close coordination with the project leader, superintendent, sales representative, and outside vendors will be required throughout the life of projects. This role also offers a chance to mentor junior designers, shape company culture, and make a real impact on building safety by utilizing the individual's expertise in fire codes, hydraulics, and CAD software to create optimal fire safety solutions.
Job Responsibilities
Review construction contract documents and coordinate with subcontractors and General Contractor/owner to gather the required information to design the project’s sprinkler system.
Ensure Independent leadership of the design process to deliver optimal fire safety systems with minimal oversight
Through the use of analytical thinking and problem-solving, determine construction feasibility and systems possibilities.
Create detailed drawings through extensive use of AutoSprink.
Mentor junior designers, shape company culture, and impact building safety by utilizing the individual's expertise in fire codes, hydraulics, and CAD software to create optimal fire safety solutions.
Create a stock list for all materials required throughout the project.
Perform hydraulic calculations.
Develop initial schedules for preliminary project work.
Maintain design historical records and historical records for all functions for future use.
Develop positive, lasting relationships with customers to ensure the company is meeting customers’ expectations.
Coordinate with other departments within the office to ensure proper handover of job information.
Coordinate with outside vendors when needed.
Accurately forecast hours to complete design on projects.
Perform Project Leader (Manager) functions as required.
Complete other assigned responsibilities as directed immediate supervisor.
Required
NICET certification required
Demonstrated ability with AutoSprink
Five + years of successful fire protection industry experience with a commanding knowledge of codes and various types of systems and layouts
Able to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference checks
Preferred
NICET Level II. A NICET Level III or IV is preferred
Proven ability and track record of performing work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines
Supervisory experience is a plus
Must be detail-oriented and skilled in freehand and mechanical lettering and drawing
Willing to coordinate and work well with others
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
